morph - where is it actually extruded from?

I'm trying to extrude a morph along a morph line path and can't seem to figure out how to extrude it while maintaining its relationship with the path when it turns a corner. Any idea how to get this to actually work? For some reason the tube always ends up shifting in some seemingly random direction.
Thanks for any help.

Start pulling at the point where your morph line hits the morph.
When you start pulling first give in a very small distance like 1.
After that you can pull your morph like you're drawing a line.
