revolved shell axis

I understand when creating a freely defined profile with the shell tool in plan view, the revolution axis is parallel to the plan. That is, it is the x axis. I want to revolve a profile around the y axis but can't figure out how to do it.

Help menu says the axis can be edited, but does not say how. Plus, I can't figure it out. How is this done?

Thanks

Once you have defined your profile and then click the centre point of rotation (first point of the axis) you are then free to click any point in the plan for the other end of the axis.
So it can be in the X or Y direction or any other angle you want.

Or do I misunderstand your question?

So the Revolution Axis must be in the X-Y plane.
This is true for the Detailed Geomety Method.

If you create a Revolved Shell using the Simple Geometry Method, the Revolution Axis will be vertical, but the Profile will be a quadrant.

So in your case you need to create it in the Floor Plan View and then select it, go to 3D and use the 3D Free Rotate command of the Pet Palette to rotate it to the correct position.

Or you can just go to 3D and do it there. You can first define the Editing Plane (should define a vertical plane or click a vertical surface of an existing element), then draw the PRofile and the Revolution AXis in the Editing Plane.
