sketch render sections and elevations???

Hi

As far as I can see there's no way of putting Sections/Elevations through the sketch render engine. You can put a camera in and change it to parallel projection, yes, but it loses the scale !!!

Any suggestions?

The Sketch renderer produces pixel images, just like the other render engines. It only works in the 3D window, just like...
If you want a similar look from a S/E, save it as a pdf and open it in Photoshop and apply the appropriate filters. This will allow you to keep scale as long as you preserve the image's dimensions.

1: Sketch Rendering loses the scale?

Geez. Put an element of known length into the view and stretch the rendering back to scale using it as a guide.

There is also a product called "ArchiSketchy"

Crude solution:

You can take the section, convert it to a drawing, and substitute the straight linework with a squiggle line.

You'd make a squiggle line with some short line segments arranged irregularly and save it as a line type.

But teacher, that could be 3/16 of a millimeter off!!

Tom, I think you've misunderstood the benefits of the metric system!

Not to mention your invention of a fractional metric syystem. If it catches on, we'll need to buy a whole new set of wrenches.

Like Whitworth spanners.

Dwight was on the money, as usual, but, if you place a marquee oriented with your desired section, before you move to the 3d window, with the 3d camera set to parallel and side view, render the view, save + copy it into the section, it is very easy to resize it to the section, because, as you can see, you are looking at exactly the same thing. Once you've located your rendering and properly resized it, move it back...........you'll get the all the dimensions, notations, what ever you want, with crisp lines on top, or move it forward, select just dims + notes and set them to the top of the stack...........for what it's worth this took 10+ minutes including the photoshop screen shot time
