toolbar shortcut problems/quirks

I was trying out a few of the new toolbar shortcuts and have found a little problem...or maybe this is how it is. I was trying to switch from arrow tool (1) to the text tool (E). If my cap lock is on the E shortcut does not work. If caps lock is off the E shortcut works.

Has anyone else run into this?

En general the shortcuts work better with the Caps Lock off ...

Maybe this would be a good thing to fix. I am going to go out on a limb here...but it would probably be a pretty good bet to say that most of us using ArchiCAD have our Caps Lock ON the majority of the time. Just a thought Graphisoft

Not me. All caps text is unreadable, and I still lament the lack of the CapsLock function in selections ...

Ouch ... adalberting ... sorry.

Yes I use Caps Lock On mostly, and I just discovered this problem the same way, trying some of the shortcuts! I think this is one thing that would be important to fix (and not too difficult?) as it provides the big helpful word - Consistency!

In TurboCAD, it recognises the actual keystrokes entered not the character represented by them. So if you have a shortcut set to the "A" key and you press "A", it doesn't matter if caps are on or off, you still get the "A" key's tool and the same if you press "Shift+A", you get the "Shift+A" key's tool regardless of the Caps Lock status.

This problem to me will hinder productivity, having to always check the status of Caps Lock before trying to select tools with the keyboard (no longer a shortcut then?!) and only trial and error, or looking up the entire keyboard shortcut list to check for conflicting commands (eg. possible deleting??) will show what possible incorrect tools or actions may happen. Annoying!

Or I might just have to alter my work practices (arrrgh! the AC sales pitch said it would follow my work practices not me have to change to it! ) and either use lower case or set it up to have Caps Lock on all the time.... Theres always a cloud for the silver linings! Yes, most software packages have probs and workarounds, and this is one for AC. ps. It is amazing what has been done (AC, etc) but they are only computers after all...

1st Djorde, what do you mean en general? And no caps/selection? My experience is caps on - no shortcuts. And with the caps on I thought I was toggling through the selections in an instance of overlapping elements. Am I not really?

2nd Caps are on most all of the time for me as well, my chosen font has the "look" I'm after in caps. A work around and, well tool actually for this is the Orbit Solutions alingnment / upper-lower case tool. And free no less!

All caps text is less readable than a normal one. Many researches showed that. Personally, I prefer legibility and information transfer (presuming there are some O;)) to looks 😉

You are toggling with Caps on ... now in 9 😉
