zooming and panning: jumps to blank areas of the plan

an increasingly annoying quirk that i'm trying to chase down:

often when panning and zooming with the scroll wheel i can be sent miles away from the actual drawing/model area. a click on the navigator preview can sometimes get me back in an instant, but not always.

i'm trying to convince graphisoft that i'm not going mad! anybody else out there experiencing this? if so, please could you give a little information about your set-up (the more the merrier!):

• your platform (mac or pc)?
• your mouse make?
• do you use the navigator preview a lot?
• do you have navigator preview data turned off in the '2D redraw' preferences?
• does it happen all day every day or just when opening a new file?
• have you found other ways around it?
• when did you first notice it?
• etc...

(or am i really just going slightly mad . . . )

thanks

Ben,

I don't know if it's the same issue, but I sometimes get a blank screen while zooming, seems to happen if I hesitate and the scroll wheel slips to the next notch. I use fit in window to get back. I've always assumed AC was trying to zoom and rebuild at the same time and got confused.

I never thought about it, but it could be sending me far away, and I wouldn't realize it because I don't use the Nav preview. I'll try to notice the next time it happens.

I use MS mice and have observed the problem on both my machines. I keep the preview data off, since I don't look at it anyway. It's been a chronic but manageable issue throughout 8.1, maybe longer.

thanks james

try working with the nav preview palette on screen for a while, and then the next time it happens just click once in the nav preview window - see what happens . . .

I've noticed this happen when the manufacturer's drivers are installed. Uninstalling the drivers usually fixes it for me. Trouble is - you don't get the same functionality out of your mouse. I'm not saying this is the cure-all, but it definitely will cure some cases.

Cheers,
Link.

i have the manufacturer's drivers uninstalled (they actually made the functionality i needed in archiCAD worse).

also: because we have three brands of mice in use in the office, and this happens to everybody, i suspect that this is more of a graphisoft problem than a mouse problem . . .

(thanks for chiming in though, the more people coming forward with this, the better . . .)

Nope, system drivers ... so how more basic can you get?

Binary?

Must be a different problem. Good luck with all that!
