Losing Hotlinks in Teamwork files

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this... (I didn't seem to find any previous related posts):

I have a teamwork file (approx. 136 MB), it has approx. 45 Hotlinks inserted (.PLPs and .MODs). The Hotlinked .PLP files ranged from 30 MB to 55 MB and have nested Hotlinked .MODs.

We are periodically losing individual Hotlinks per Story from the .PLP files. It is VERY random. The Hotlink still remains in the list of Hotlinks (due to the fact that the Hotlink is placed in multiple instances) but the actual Hotlink gets removed from the Plan window.

This is an AC7.0 file. Due to schedule and deadlines we have not been able to convert the file to the latest AC8.1 format and probably will not convert the file since the project will be completed within the month. Also, the project manager has told me that upgrading the file is NOT an option.

Any ideas before I give up an send the file to GS Tech Support? (I've tried the "Forward Merge" tip already).

I'm thinking we've hit the imaginary threshold for file stability though this file doesn't seem that huge.

I guess maybe my real question is: Do I have this same problem to look forward to as we use AC8.1 on future projects of similar size? Since my office just recently upgraded we have yet to test this type and size project.

Maybe I'm just venting my frustration.

Just a suggestion, but check to make sure the master layer (the layer the hotlink was assgned to when originally inserted) is on. If the master layer for the hotlink is off, the rest of the items (no matter what layer they may be on) will also be turned off.

Update on our situation:

Apparently, the Hotlinks are not being lost... but are losing their Story reference.

All of the "lost" Hotlinks were being moved to Story "1". That is why we were not actually losing the Hotlink in the Hotlink Manager list.

I just recently spoke with GS and was told that it seems to be a Teamwork issue. They did mention a similar instance happening with AC8.*. After the next Hotlink hic-up, I'll send GS the file for their scrutiny.

I guess by the lack of post that this is a rare occurence.

We've been battling this ourselves the last couple weeks, and have been sending files to GSTS to try to nail down the problem.

We really don't have a solution, though.
