Teamwork

We are working with a teamwork file that is 28MB. Prior to this week the sign in process would take about 2 minutes total. This week it is taking about 4-5 minutes to sign-in. Other things have slowed as well such as changing layer combinations. This process takes almost 2minutes. We are in transition from AutoCAD to ArchiCAD so this file includes several dwg x-references for wall sections and other office standard details. Is this the reason for slowing processes? Our hardwarde meets the AC 10 requirements. what might be our problem?

Did the slow down start after adding the xREFs? It is possible that they could be causing your problem. If so you could try placing the DWGs as drawings instead of xREFing them. This provides generally snappier performance and avoids the attribute pollution (layers, line types, etc.) that comes with the AutoCAD files.

THank you Matthew! I will try this. This means then that if the CAD details need to be updated they have to be removed from AC10 and replaced as external content again correct?? Thank you again for your response!

.. or you could explode the "placed drawing" so you can edit it.

If the DWGs are revised (within AutoCAD), you can just update the drawings within the Drawing Manager, as you would for drawings placed on layouts -- it's still a linked external reference.

So I replace a fair amount of my x-refs with "external content" and now my AutoCAD files aren't making a smooth transition. Lineweights are off and text has been pushed away from its leaders. None of this happened in the x-ref process. I guess this now belongs in the Working in ArchiCAD forum. How do I switch? How do I get my dwg files to come in as they are seen in AutoCAD?

Are they placed at the same scale as they were in Autocad? I've never had a problem with the text size in them before.

You can set the pens in the parameters of the placed drawing.
