door and window schedule quantity field

How do I use the "quantity" field for doors and windows?  When I add this field to my door and window schedule I would expect identical doors or windows to show up only once in the schedule with a quantity number.

First you need to set the schedule settings to 'Merge Items'.

Just remember that any unique fields (such as ID) will mean the doors will not merge.

You should end up with 2 'B' doors and one each for the rest.

You can then further merge some of the fields, like ID.

That is a nice change. Did not notice the new option.
