Applying NTFS compression for \Projects\<PROJECT>\Backups?

Our file server is nearly full. i picked a random old project and applied NTFS compression to the Backups-folder. It compressed well, from 5GB to 2GB.

Will Archicad still work if I apply NTFS compression to all Backups folders? I'm not applying it to the Project folders as I fear slowness.
