All,
we identified a possible source of this problem. On many Macs the hostname of the Mac cannot be resolved, as a result the two services belonging to our BIM Server cannot find each other.
We found a way how we can handle such situation much better, this will be released with the first update for ArchiCAD 18 coming early Fall.
Until the update arrives the following workaround can help:
- open terminal on the computer where the BIM Server runs
- type: sudo pico /etc/hostconfig
- you will be prompted to enter your password, make sure you are signed in with and administrator account
- in this text file the hostname of the computer can be defined
- add a new line: HOSTNAME=computername
- there replace the computername with the hostname of the computer (as on the screesnshot, where the name of my Mac is: kiss-m-osx)
- press ctrl O to save the file
- press ctrl X to exit the editor
- restart the computer
You can check the name of the computer in System Preferences/Sharing Preference Pane.
I hope this helps,
Marton
