Cinema 4D r9.6

Just think, the C4D 9.1 made AC look so slooooow. Now take a look at the movie below and see what r9.6 does on the same machine.

The demo is free and it allows everything except save. I created this from my AC 10 model. Rendered as 1600x1000 and did a screen capture.

It also has a very nice atmospheric package included, the sky, clouds and sun position work for world wide settings. I clicked the "here and now" and ended up with a sunny San Diego day with scattered clouds.

Check out the speed boost, it rips.

Also view the movie about the new sky tool:

My wish for the list is a collaboration between Maxon and GraphiSoft to include the C4D render engine in AC 10.1

I really like the C4d interface, but I got fed up with the clumsy export from Archicad......
Is the exchange plug in clean and straightforward these days burginger ?
Or do you have to do some tweeking etc
I've been playing with Artlantis R as well and I do like the interface - but there are limitations ....and bugs

Is it possible to export from Archicad and render in C4d without too much changing textures etc

There is a direct export from AC to C4D when you want to render Archicad scene (another plugin is for modeling purposes) but... in german.
Any practical experience with it?

AFAIK the official exchange plugin has not been updated for AC10 and I am still waiting desperately for it. I use it a lot and it is very efficient since it updtaes changes to the model in AC wihout having to reassign materials.

Who is responsible for this plugin - Maxon or Graphisoft? I would have thought the latter - afterall this is just another document output format such as 3DS or DWG, all of which GS must write the translator for?

So what is the hold up? This plugin saves hours upon hours of unnecessary work reapplying materials, layer structures etc .... our animation/rendering guys are going to go nuts when they find out about this

There are two plugins for AC<->C4D communication.
I am not quite sure but it seems that plugin for rendering in C4D is made by Maxon.
Connection between Archicad and MaxonForm for modeling purposes and saving it as gsm file is made by GS.
Am I right?

This is a cut and paste from Evermotion, possibly the best firm on object modelling. As you can see, they list everything, including VectorWorks, except ArchiCAD. Graphisoft must open AC to other industry standards, because, let's face it, GDL did not make it.

Take time to enjoy the last day of summer.

Today I pointed my rendering camera away from, buildings, projects and other man made efforts.

Nature says it best.

Yes Maxonform plugin is GS outsourcing of a solution to Archicads modeling deficiencies. It switches to C4D with the AC modeled ghosted where you can model new or remodel existing elements using C4D's more complex modeling tools and it then brings everything modeled back into Archicad as a single .gsm object. No parametrics and good luck editing the object script to give it any - it is the object equivalent of a mesh. Anyway ...

C4D Exchange plugin is used for exporting the Archicad model to C4D for rendering, animations etc. It basically keeps track of all the AC exported elements and the materials/effects assigned to them. If you change the AC model, the C4D Exchange plugin automatically replaces the AC elements whilst maintaining all these materials, effects etc. The old .3DS method does not do this - if the AC model changes you need to redo everything. Needless to say the Exchange plugin is a massive time saver.

Now that i think about it again you are probably right and they are probably both done by Maxon - i think this has been said somewhere else too. Still I would really like to know who's court this is in and why the big holdup .... the v9 plugins work with 9.6 AFAIK, so any changes are really only on the AC side of things - and its not like they re-wrote the modeling engine in 10 now did they.

Not so worried about Maxonform as there are acceptable workarounds given the frequency of its use, but the Exchange plugin will be a big issue next time we have a big submission here. C4D guys will be looking for heads on sticks if it results in them doing unnecessary hours.
