The only information you get on the web about this new version of ArtLantis are some pretty sad looking renderings.
Also, with the launch of ArchiCAD 9 and it´s new Lightworks engine, there is a lot of talk about the "new" rendering capabilities of these programs.
I would like to tell something to you guys who didn´t have the previlege (?) of seeing the presentation of ArtLantis 5:
It will blow your hat's off!!!
I, for one, will not loose a second learning to work with Lightworks.
I´ll just sit tight and wait for the release of Abvents new version.
If this subject is something you want to hear about, I´ll do my best to explain what I have seen.

Well, i will tell you why about this great interest in onyx.
Art*lantis 5 will have some great 3d trees available in an internal library, but you can creat your own objects because we will be able to select polygons from the scene and "save as object".
so i was thinking in creating my own 3d trees and use the already availabe in onyx library (especially portuguese especies that probably will not be available in art*lantis package) and then add them as 3d object to art*lantis library...
so there will be no use of archiCAD in that operation.....only use onyx, exporto (example) for 3ds format and then save as object inside art*lantis.....
what do you think?
best regards

seems to me you are looking into a picture representing your project, and not into a movie...a quick solution with very decent results without using onyx or any heavy duty computer or expensives softs, is to prepare model in ac with just a few 3d elements like cars, trees or none, export to artlantis and make illumination sell, take the occasion to put textures (no trees) then take it to piranesi and add more texture if needed, now use imagecels trees, people, cars, your family, your dog, friend, owner of the bldg and the like, screw ups are allowed cuz now you take it to phshop or any of those, photopaint, etc. and do your final touches, clean up, more people, deletions, picture brightness, etc...jpegs are good enough for me and all this should take max 3 hrs......hey, and dont get me wrong. ..i love quality
