Sketch rendering

Hello I'm having a problem in sketch rendering The corner (marked by the red box) is the same as the other picture showing that they are correctly joined. but as you can se e i'm getting a line in the facade that shouldn't be there and i don't know how to remove it?

Another thing is that I would like to render the windows in a grey color instead of white. is this possible or do i have to run i through photoshop?

As far as the corner is concerned (assuming you're talking about the corner line), I don't see why it wouldn't be there..

Re: Windows - unfortunately, it can't render any of the percentage fills from what I can tell. You could use a hatch pattern like a 1" grid (this may or may not meet your criteria). Or as you mentioned earlier you could use Photoshop.

You could try using a 3d document instead, you could set that up the same way as your 2d elevations in terms of vectorial hatching. The sketch render doesn't appear to be very free-hand styled.

For the first problem, assuming you're talking about the line (or rather division in hatching) on the face of the wall as opposed to the actual line at the corner of the building (which, as someone else mentioned, is supposed to be there), it's a bug somewhere between the display settings of your video card and how the vectorial hatch is applied to the surface.

You might want to try shifting the origin of the hatching on that wall a little to the right (your right) through the Align texture command, in the 3D window.
The vectorial hatching is tied to the texture map, so, as you adjust the origin of that, the hatch should adjust as well.
It may just be that the brick hatch is not cleaning up as well in tiling, as the image map would in full texture mode.




As for your second question, what you probably might want to do is apply a vector hatch to your glass setting to something like 10%, 25% 50% or so, depending on how dark you want it to appear.

Remember that the Sketch render is vector-based, so it doesn't do actual greys. Just strictly black and white lines and dots.
But you can simulate greys and transparency of greys through the % hatches (which are basically just black dots against a white background dispersed according to whatever concentration the percentage dictates.)

You were right.
It only renders vectorial fills in ArchiCAD 17 as well, and unfortunately there's no way to simulate the grey with what they have available unlike with the solid fills.

Hi Kevin,

Starting from ArchiCAD 18 you have better control on similar situations. See the following screenshot for the new checkbox in wall settings, that can help to remove the unnecessary line from the facade.

Hi All, we have been investigating the problem of percentage fills in the sketch renderer. The reason why percentage fills do not work in the Sketch renderer is that the function of the engine is to distort vectorial lines.
