Dual screens with instant updating

My wish is to have dual screens with instant updating in Archicad. As far as I understand I have to click on the window on the other screen to update it. It would have been smoother to have an imediate update. As soon as I alter something in the plan view, it will automatically change in the 3D window and section/elevation.

We also use another Package AECOsim from Bentley.  don't worry there is a reason I switched to Archicad.

Bht there I could have 2 Monitors

Each monitor could have up to 4 views

Think about working with items that are

  • 200' or moving or connecting thigs that are far apart
  • or working on a detail or wall materials and see the changes on the elevation, Iso or model while you  don't move on the other screen.
  • I really struggle not having this.

One Model with up top to eight views of any kind that are all active together.  NOT just two pictures on two monitors,

Request the ability for a minimum of two screens with up to 4 views per screen.

All are live,

Need for large models or complicated models

speeds up process if you are working on multiple places that affect or need work in another area.

reduces zooming in and out to work in different areas.

Compete with other platforms like AECOsim so that we gather more discipline user.

I should add that each windows in independent and should stay on one screen unless you want it to,

* monitors could be the solution similar to what I am used to.

I think they "keep" this feature, till time they wouldn't have any idea what to give in an update...
Next is the major release event, which is the announcement of DUAL SCREEN WORKFLOW, which will make everyone happy.

Thanks for your feedback and input on this topic.

We have already looked into this topic, and discussed with our development teams, but it would require a large reworking of the code - ie fundamentally how windows and element updating in Archicad behave/work. We don't see this achievable in the short term so have moved this to 'on hold', but understand the benefits and improved usability such as development would have.

That is shame and making this product harder to be a major player in the US.

Once you use it you would understand the need.  And with the Larger the project the more you see the need.  Though I have used dual monitors up to 4 monitors since 1986  and do not understand the "late to the game" philosophy.

This is a game changer and would improve this product greatly.

I have worked with two monitors and 4 views on each for years and it hurts not havinb this feature.  I am going backwards in production.

To provide a bit more context, even though this might be technically challenging - to have multiple windows live updating at the same time (and possible selection between windows), we are constantly reworking the code, both with refactoring and modernisation. So putting this on hold for now, is not because ‘it’s too hard’ (as I have read on other platforms). We will continue to work on general refactoring and larger developments in the background.

Hello everyone,

It's unfortunate to hear that for Graphisoft, this topic either isn't relevant or isn't a priority at the moment. Here we are in 2025, and it's still not possible to achieve what other softwares has been offering for over 20 years. Will we need another 20 years?

No one has said that GS thinks the topic is irrelevant. If you read what James is saying it is a contant work in other areas so this is being put on hold for the moment...i.e. not prioritised in the short term, but also not forgotten.

Archicad has worked just fine since I started using it, without this function. You learn to deal with it.

Personally it's not on my top-ten list, probably not even top 20. There are so many other things that can be improved that would make a bigger impact on productivity. But seriously, this function is not a "need to have", it is a "nice to have" and therefore I think the decision to put it on hold is the correct one.

But that is like someone saying they love only water and it is enough.  That until the taste an orange or an ice cold coke.

Multiple monitors increases work production in a very visible way.
