The interesting thing about the Redstick SiteCad (confusingly called iCad by Spatial in the Apple appstore, US $55) is the nice integration with the Leica DISTO Laser Distancemeter. I just got back yesterday from a 5 city tour of the US using my trusty D5 model for obtaining site measurements.
I'm sure many people on this forum have made the investment in these tools but if you are still using a Stanley tape measure, it is time to upgrade. A laser Distancemeter is the only way to go. it is much, much faster and probably more accurate too: Leica claims accuracies of 1mm over 300m which is rather astounding.
I have used Distos of various types all over the world but have yet to find a good way to integrate one with a tablet software package. iCad (or SiteCad?) may just be the ticket.
Now I wish I sprung for the Disto D8 with Bluetooth. I would be very curious if anyone had tried tablet software with a Disto and what your thoughts are. Are the imported AC models truly usable? Is is faster than recording on paper and inputting manually?
