How to hide "Core" skins of Composite Structures/Complex Profiles

This is a nice tip that was posted as a comment in the Wishlist:

https://community.graphisoft.com/t5/Wishlist/Partial-Structure-Display-option-to-hide-quot-Core-quot...

Kudos to @Moreno for the tip.

Let me copy-paste the full text of the post here for easy reference:

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

This is one way we export it in IFC, with the "Participate in Collision Detection" option.

Open "Building Materials" and set "Participates in Collision Detection" to "OFF" for the Building Material.

In IFC translator, Geometry Conversion settings:
"Export only geometries which 'Participate in Collision Detection'" --> set to "ON"

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

So, what the above achieves is: the core of composites and complex profiles will not be exported in the IFC file if

  • the Building Materials of these cores are set to not participate in collision detection AND
  • the IFC export is set to export only skins/components the Building Materials of which do participate in collision detection.

Of course, if you want to export IFC this way, and you also perform collision detection, then I would suggest quickly changing the above Building Material setting before exporting/publishing to IFC, then changing it back so it continues to correctly in Collision Detection.

Nice Tip but still feels like a workaround for delivering something that is becoming very normal in BIM projects : an architecture model without the load bearing elements.
I would really be great for Graphisoft to include the option in the model filter. I know it's always easy to comment from the outside but since the filter already works for the other way (only display core) then I doesn't seem too hard to make it work for this scenario.

Barry is right, if you have SSA/Forward/Subscription, you should be able to vote. Those deadlines (180 days from the first post of the wish topic) were a first iteration, they are not set in stone, and at the moment, wishes can get votes even after the deadlines.
