Import from Sketchup into Archicad 17?

does the entire sketchup file come in as ONE LARGE object?
the translation was good....everything came in, though...it's unusable to edit cause........well, its one HUGE object.
Can't create stories, can't move walls, doors nor anything.....cause....well...it's ONE GIANT object? is this the result?

yes. Sketchup is a surface modeler with no concept of BIM or stories... so hard to expect a lot more.

What you can do is convert the imported SU object into a Morph and then edit that.

Mostly useful for importing objects... morph it, edit it, save as GDL object.

thanks Karl,
was afraid that was all it was good for.
I mean....the SKP import came in fine. did a great job...just had hoped to be able to edit walls, roofs, slabs..etc.. but such is life.
Oh well...that's ok. just means MORE work for me to redraw and redevelop in 3D Archicad what a firm already spent their hard earned beans on in Sketchup....oh well....live, learn and "show me da money"!

Well, if they modeled accurately in SU - you can snap to all of their lines/points to model more quickly...

sure...but that's a big "IF".....those dudes who use SU seem to just wanna 'bang out' eye-candy and have (ahem) someone else worry about whether or not the model is accurate and well made......that's fine....mo work fo me....😄
