Labels Schedule

Hi all

I wanted to create a Schedule for Labels, so we can have a set of Favorites labels, and keep those up to date without having to make the changes manually on each and every label.

Am i clear? i just want a schedule that lists the favorite labels, and change the content from there if it's necessary...

I think it should be possible since the schedules are a "small window" to the data base...

Any ideas or work-arounds to achieve the same thing??

Yes!
I'm in front of PC now and you caught me!

My method is based on IFC properties and data mapping.
So, 1st thing to do is to define the IFC properties like this (see picture below).

As you can see I defined my IFC properties in order to have Masterformat division and code, spec text (where you will type your specification text), BOQ ref (it is used in order to group your item in BOQ oriented way - for exampl CAWS)

Once you fill these IFC properties for each element of your Archicad BIM model, you can use the tag&categories label (chosing the spec code property) in order to have keynote in your drawings.

I have been using a similar system, I believe, utilizing ArchiCAD Properties. Where I get into difficulty is with elements such as complex profiles and composites, where there are multiple materials for a single element. The system we use identifies each material with a keynote, so for such elements one has to create multiple keynote properties for the element. It can work, but it makes labeling and scheduling a bit more complex.

A screen shot of the properties for a wall set up like this is attached.

But keynotes independent of construction elements would still be helpful for notes not directly related to a material or element.

Regarding the BOQ ... considering that the elements can be computed by linear meter, square meter, cubic meter, horizontal projected area, true area (horizontal or slanted), vertical area, lumpsum, by piece ...

I defined 2 IFC propertyes: "quantity" and "unit" and the data mapping rules in order to have
- elements classified as "beams" gives quantities by linear meter
- elements classified as "morph" gives quantities as cubic meter

... and so on ...

So, for example, if I want to have the quantity in linear meter of skirtings I will model them as walls, beams, columns, or whatever ... then I will classify them as beams in order to get the quantity by linear meter.
Data mapping rule will do the "translation" ... see below.

At the end I will set a schedule showing IFC properties showing masterformat or BOQ ref value and quantity and unit ...

My system is based on the assumption
one element = one keynote

In case of an element consisting of more elements I will consider as assembly in order to have one keynote only.

This is the limitation of my system.
Pro of my system is that I have one-click coordinated BOQ+specifications+keynote

CONS (one of them) is that I have to model every element which I need the quantity of

BOQ appears as it follows.

Of course the system is not perfect and there are some limitations in Archicad that don't allow me to get what I prefer under a graphical point of view ...

I would like to add that using properties is much, much faster than IFC properties. This with regard to specifications. Schedule of specs is created almost in real time. Using IFC properties for this purpose is, on the other hand, much slower ...
