Am working only in sketch rendering phase so need a fill type.

You can create a new fill or duplicate a similar one and adjust its settings to what you want. For example the 1:8 fill. Duplicate, adjust spacing and rotate the angle so the lines are horizontal.
Then apply the fill to your log and chink material.
