Is there a "wish" already for this issue to be addresed?
We now have Archicad 25 and this keeps happening always (not even sometimes, but always). Also would like to set the default distance for the offset (always goes too far)
Waste too much time adjusting dismal the time...

I am not seeing this problem in 25 with default offsets for dimension (i.e I have not moved it).
The box/fill around the text is always clear of the dimension line.
Using Arial Narrow as the font.
Can you show an image of the problem you are having?
Barry.

Hello Barry,
Attached an image as an example (but it really happens a lot).
My text is Arial, size 2mm.

This happens when you move the text, usually.
If you revert the text back to the default position, the bounding box around it shrinks.
It is very annoying. I've worked around this problem for so long, you almost forget how stupid it is!

Yes, it happens when you have moved the text previously and for some reason it goes back... (still don't know why it goes back sometimes...
I got used to it and move the text again but it is super annoying... I would really love to have dims that I don't need to move again. I really wastes my time because unfortunately I do need to adjust the text for dims when they step on things and that happens very often.
Also the offset option brings the numbers too far by default so I need to adjust them too. It would be nice if you can set the default from the beginning

Ah, I see the problem.
I have never noticed it before, but I rarely need fills behind my text.
As soon as you move the text, the surrounding frame/fill increases in size.
I have no idea why it would need to do this - I say bug.
I have no solution other than to move your text slightly away from the dimension line rather than just horizontally.
In this case the Arial 2mm text is fine in the default location - fits inside the dimension lines just fine.
I had no need to move the '300' text at a scale of 1:50.
If you find this is not the case with you then maybe look at the placement method you are using for the dimensions.
Barry.

Yes, I know all these options and I end up moving all text manually but it wastes my time tremendously.
I will like to vote for a wish for it to get fixed. I don't understand how the wishes work in the new forum
Also the placement method you are showing there, I struggle with the "offset" one, I use it often but it always too far. Can't we set the distance by default?
