Archicad 11 Layout Book File

One for the Way Back Machine, but I'm trying to open a LBK file from Archicad 11 using AC 26 but AC26 crashes every time.

Anyone have any thoughts on how I can open this old LBK file?

Thanks in Advance,

Joel

I’m not sure if it works for a Layout Book. If you open Archicad first then navigate to the Layout Book file you want to open and make sure you select the checkbox to repair the file if it’s available for Layout Books, that might work.

Just did a test with a 8.1 version.

The AC file opened without issues and the saved views were there.

Trying to open the LBK crashes AC.

The LBK couldn't be merged.

No repair option in AC26.

Try Archicad 25

i don't know if going to an earlier version will help.

AllanP,

I have tried AC 25 but I get a license error that states I don't have a license.  All of our licensing is up to date, I feel the issue with AC25 may be that it's too old.  But I chose to run AC 25 in Demo Mode anyway, but then AC crashed.  I'm not sure AC 25 is viable.

I've tried all of the routines from the Reference Guide, but AC26 crashes when I attempt to open the Layout Book file.

Eduardo,

I feel slightly relieved that you at least duplicated my issue.

I also had no problems with AC26 opening the PLN files from AC11.  And I saved them to AC26. But the Layout Book starts to open, but then I get the Spinning Beach Ball of MacOS and then a crash.

I also tried to Merge the Layout Book to no avail.

I also looked for the Repair option, but it was not available.

I feel like I'm out of things to try, and that there's a corruption somewhere that can't be fixed.

Thanks for trying Eduardo,

Joel

Lee,

I think you're right, I don't think it works for a Layout Book.  At least it doesn't work using any method I read about or tried.

As I mentioned to Eduardo, the Repair option is not available when opening the Layout Book file using AC26.

If you have a cloud license, you can no longer run 25 unless you also have an old perpetual software or hardware license.

Cloud licenses will only run 26+.

We do still have a perpetual license. I guess I could go through the trouble of trying to upload my cloud license and download the perpetual one from the cloud.  And maybe I'll try that one day.

It's just that the literature stated we could use AC26 to open these old Layout Books, but it doesn't work (with my LBK file, at least).

I think at this point, I'll just recreate the drawings I need since the PLN opens, and I can see the saved views.

There is no perpetual license in the cloud and you do not have to do anything with your new 26+ cloud license.

You either have a physical hardware key which you just plug in or you have a software licence in your license pool that you download via Licence Manager.

You can have both the old perpetual license and the new cloud license loaded at the same time.

The version of Archicad you run will choose the correct license.
