Is it possible to automatically create a bold contour line in elevation view?

I would like to have a bold line that contour the main subject of an elevation, like in this sketch?

There is no automatic way to do this.

The workaround is to draw a rectangle around the elevation and then magic wand a polyline in the space.

    1. Use scissors to remove extra line elements
  4.

  6. If project changes then redo.

You could setup a view with layer combinations, model view options and graphic overrides to get close, but I think you will still see an outline for doors and windows as well. You could stack this view on top of your normal view on the layout.

We use a similar approach to show basement level contours as dashed lines for our elevations. But basements generally don't have doors and windows on the outside.
