Keynote Tool Limitations in Archicad 28 – Feedback and Questions

I’ve been exploring the new Keynote tool in Archicad 28, but I’ve encountered some limitations that I find frustrating. I’m wondering if others have faced similar issues or found workarounds. Here are my main concerns:

1. Changing an associated keynote
   Once a keynote is assigned to an element, I cannot change it directly via the Keynote palette. The only method I’ve found is to double-click the element and edit the text through the dedicated Keynote menu, which feels unnecessarily cumbersome.

2. Lack of flexibility with Favorites
   It seems impossible to create a Favorite that only saves formatting settings without also including the specific keynote itself. This might be due to the fact that Keynotes are not part of the parameter transfer options. I find this limits the potential of using Favorites for efficient workflows.

3. Issues with Excel import/export
   When exporting the keynote list to Excel, modifying it, and re-importing, everything works fine unless I change the name of a keynote already used in the project. In such cases, the labels display missing information. It seems the import/export process is tied to the keynote name rather than its reference number. This makes it impossible to reorder the list during the final editing stages and forces me to keep the original keynote name if it has already been assigned in the project.

Has anyone else encountered these issues? If so, how have you worked around them? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the feedback so far.

In AC28.1 we will add a method to update the keynote label content of an already placed keynote label which should help with your first point.

With favourites, when you use them through the keynote palette it will replace any keynote data and use the one you select in the palette. For import and export, we kept it simpler to use the key as the references rather than a hidden or technical guid. So it is simpler and clearer on the hotlink side too. Regarding the first and last points, I appreciate the clarifications and look forward to the improvements in AC28.1.

As for the Favorites, it would be great to use them solely for formatting without transferring the content of the Key. However, to achieve this, the "Keynote" dialog is missing from the parameter transfer options, which would make this functionality possible.

From the transfer settings you can exclude the "label text content" to avoid the specific keynote (or property or other text etc).
