Missing Fonts when Publishing to PDF

I've been trying to publish a drawing set containing several fairly standard fonts (Arial, Trebuchet)...When i publish through the Amyuni driver via the "temporary Archicad 10 publisher" printer, any Arial font text is missing. The fonts do show up in the published pdfs when i switch the temp printer driver from amyuni to adobe pdf...but that driver is much slower. Is this a problem with the amyuni driver, or am i missing something?

Have you tried setting the Font Embedding options in the Advanced Panel of your Amyuni Printing Preferences?

Do it via Start>Printers & Faxes> right click on Amyuni> Printing Preferences. This way it will stick permanently.

Cheers,

I tried that, and i'm still getting the same error.
It's only happening with the Arial regular font (arial narrow works), and only Text boxes that use arial font (dimension strings with arial labels still print).

...I don't get it...

Has anybody else had a similar problem or been able to recreate this effect?

OK...some more experimentation has led me to the conclusion that it's some sort of glitch within the publishing routine that affects Arial Regular Italics...it is somewhat a hit or miss, and could end up being something that broke in this particular pln file.

Arial Regular is one of the Microsoft released web fonts (a near exact copy of the classic Helvetica - to get around royalty fees), so it's installed on just about every modern Mac or Windows PC (not sure about Linux). Maybe that's the reason why it is not being embedded.

It's included in the Font Embedding Options, so one wouldn't think so. Sounds like a more specialized problem. Is the font definitely on your machine? It doesn't appear as [Arial] does it?

I have the same problem, and have been having it for some time. It appears to be with the Amyuni driver. Everything "prints" fine, but when I try to view the file in Adobe, I get a message saying
Cannot extract the embedded font 'LVWJVH+Arial,Italic'. Some characters may not display or print correctly.
after which the file goes blank. Now the 'LVWJVH' part is not constant and changes with each file and/or print version, but is apparently constant with the same file. I've gone through the settings and set it so that no fonts are embeded whatsoever. Unfortunately I keep getting this message all the time, and I'm just about ready to start issuing drawings from v10. It's not a nice problem to have.

I'm really at a loss here. Anybody have any ideas?

But what if you're on PC with XP? How can I fix this for the XP? Or should I just give up and pull out my vellum and my led holders?

What you can do as a temporary workaround is use the free 30-day trial of Acrobat 3D. There doesn't seem to be a free trial of the more reasonably priced Acrobat Pro 8.0.

(If you have a use for Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign or Dreamweaver as well, the Adobe CS2.3 bundle is a good investment.)

Graphisoft will have to make an update that provides a more recent version of the Ayumi PDF driver within three months as the current one does not work at all with Windows Vista.
