PLT and DWG in PM

I got two situations:

1- When import .dwg in PM the print doesn't show lineweghts.
2- Whe import .plt in PM the following message appear: Unimplemented Instruction Occurred. "MC" "QL" "AC" "SV" "EC".

How can I handle those issues?

about (1) I have not found a work around

about (2) you can safely ignore the message, I have had no problems with it. What i do after I import them is unlink the plt so I don't get the message everytime I open PM.

Thanks, that's what I'm doing. If you find solution for issue (1) let me know.

What are the import methods? Are you assigning pen numbers ot going per color? If the line weight is on, do you see different line weights when zoomed in?

These are control codes for non-HP plotters; they can be safely ignored. There is a thread on this, with full explanation at http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=7731#7731

Issue here is with the import process. Djordje hit on the process, but did not go very far with it. When you import a file the pens which are used by the AutoCAD user may not match with the pens which are set up in PM. You need to open the DWG file to see which pens are being used and what the weights are. Most likely there are all set to 0.99pts. This is why I have chosen to have my consultants to send me PLTs.

I open the PLTs and ignore the error message.

The PLT is coded to read the precise line settings and fonts as they are no longer fonts or single lines. They are fills with surrounding lines. A PLT is a very crude drawing format. But most importantly a very accurate at getting the exact look of another persons settings. By using the DWG or DXF process, you need to make certain settings to make the process dumb. This requires speaking with the person who is sending you the work and trying several times until you get the desired results.

AutoCAD claims that DWF solves this problem, like using PDF for CAD. I have not tried to open a DWF from someone else to see what happens. I do not know if PM can open a DWF. Hope someone else might know this answer.

Use the PLT if it works for you when you need the exact look of your consultants work.

Use DWG from your consultant when you need to incorporate their work into yours and you will change their pens and line weights.

Or if you can print them, have the person just send you PDF files.

Yes, PlotMaker does import DWF files.

Not on my setup.
I have just tried to 'Import' and 'Open' DWF files sent to me from a AutoCAD user/consultant and -nothing.
I have also just tried to open a DWF file that I have 'Published" on my own computer and Plotmaker (3.1 v2) has crashed, once again!

The Plotmaker is getting more buggy than before.
For example, when I import a drawing into a layout I can only stretch the borders once. The arrow loses it's sensitivity and does not pick up the nodes, unless I rebuild the display!? What is going on ?

Does anyone have these problems?
Is this a bug or a feature.?

I asked about it: GS is aware of the problem, they are working on the fix.

Laszlo,
thank's for a quick response.

It's good to know that I'm not just suffering from deadline stress.

Can't wait for the FIX.
