Publish file with hyperlinks as .dwg file

We are using Archicad 8.1 on Mac OsX - is there a way to save a plotmaker file as dwg and include the hyperlinks that are in the .pln file? When I publish as .dwg the resulting file is missing the hyperlinked info. The hyperlinks are attached in the .pln file - not bound, etc.

thanks

Oops - I mean x-refs not hyperlinks

thanks

yes - use your dwg/dxf translator set-up to have plotmaker place drawings into linked x-refs. see the attached screenshot. i can't remember, but you may have to do this from within archiCAD: Tools>DWG/DXF Translation Settings because not all of the configurable settings are available in the open/save dialogues . . .

hope this helps

having read your post again, i think i may have misunderstood. it's the DWGs you're using in archiCAD as x-refs that you want included with the plotmaker file right? this actually works fine for me - the information in the x-refs are included with my DWG data when i save out from plotmaker.

or am i still misunderstanding, and you want the x-refs in archiCAD not to be included as a part of the archiCAD data, but for the x-ref file itself to be included with your plotmaker DWG?

To try and clear up my question:

We have a previous Archicad 6.5 project that uses .dwg x-refs - attached but not bound. We have now upgraded to Archicad 8.1 and OSX and are being asked to save all of those previous layout files (created with Archicad 6.5/Plotmaker) as dwgs. In the new version of Plotmaker when I try and save out the original .lay files as .dwg all of the x-ref info is missing from the new .dwg file that I created in Plotmaker.

hope this helps!

thanks

Is the Xref infromation present in ArchiCAD?

Is the Xref information present in PMKs?

Do you see the PMK information in the layouts?

What are the settings of your Translator in PlotMaker?

Did you try replacing the PMKs with views?

** Yes - the xrefs show up normally in the archicad file

Is the Xref information present in PMKs?

** Yes

Do you see the PMK information in the layouts?

** Yes

What are the settings of your Translator in PlotMaker?

** I'm using the default translator

Did you try replacing the PMKs with views

** No - can this be done without doing any work in the original Archicad file? - we have 100+ sheets to do and are hoping to do everthing in Plotmaker.

Thanks!

I tried this and it worked for me.
Here is what I did:
1. Created a PLN file in AC 6.5 which had an attached XREF in it.
2. Saved the PLN.
3. Saved a PMK from it.
4. Placed the PMK on a Layout in PM 2.2 and saved it as DWG. The XREF data was there in the resulting DWG file.
5. I opened in AC 8.1 the PLN file.
6. Saved it under a new name as a AC 8.1 PLN.
7. I imported the view from that story in PM 3.1. The XREF was there in PM 3.1.
8. Published it as DWG. I then opened this in AC 8.1 and the XREF data was there.
9. Then I imported into PM 3.1 the PMK originally saved from AC 6.5 and placed it on a Layout.
10. Published the Layout as DWG. The XREF data was there.

I did this on a PC and it worked. Is there anything you are doing differently or should I do something differently?

The one thing that I am trying to do is open the existing .lay file (created in PM2.2) in the new PM 3.1 and publish as .dwg from there rather than your step 8 which creates a new layout file from scratch (it seems?). We have 100+ files to convert and want to minimize the time. We have Macs running OSX too.

Thanks!

For me it works that way, too.
Maybe it would be worth reporting. It could be Mac-specific or file-specific or some other factor.

I couldn´t find the save as DWG file, on Plotmaker 3.1.
Can anyone place a screen shot of where it is?
