Publishing PDF or Printing as a Single File

Anonymous

Does any one know any way to do this? (I'm pretty sure that it's not possible but I just have to check.)

I am referring to creating a publisher set that can either save or print as a single file rather than a series of individual sheets. The problem I am having at one client's office s that their printer tracks output by job number and we have to enter it for each sheet.

This really knocks the teeth out of the idea of automatic document production. Especially since we are trying to set up the simplest possible way for PAs and principles to sets for review.

Hello Link,
John, all I would like to do is, after composing several layouts,
I would like to create one multi-page PDF of all of the sheets
in the layout book to send to a print shop or to the contractor
or to the client.
Thank you,

two ways
Archicad method
1) select a subset in publisher choose save as option and PDF option. The check box for meging to one file should be present.
Mac OSX method
2) select all the relevant files in the layout. Choose print and select plotmaker option to print the selectyed layouts (not the currently visible layout. Choose the save to PDF option

Hope that helps
Cheers John

Hello John,
Thanks for posting back.
Yes, the Archicad method works best for my purpose.
Thanks,

Well I read the whole thread and I still have the same problem.

It used to work just fine in v9 - I would Print my set using the PDF converter and it would come out as one file no problem.

Now, with exactly the same settings it doesn't.

I've tried setting up the publisher set as "Save", but I don't have a PDF format option (and yes, the Amyuni converter supplied with v10 is installed).

I'm stuck.

So we can flog this dead horse!

Maybe try reinstalling your PDF Converter? If you're on a PC, it's at C:\Program Files\Graphisoft\ArchiCAD 10\PDF Converter\Install\install.exe

You may have to restart ArchiCAD for it to reappear.

Yeah, done that. Rebooted even.

Furthermore, if I try to "Concatentate" (in the file dialog box when printing pdf) AC10 will crash. Lovely.

And now I've discovered that the AC10 PDF converter won't print colour for 25%,50% & 75% fills - it will convert them to greyscale.

What's the go there?

Doesn't sound like you're having much fun there Bruce.

The fill thing has been discussed here.

No solution as of yet though.

Cheers,
Link.

Not really, no.

I'm guessing that these will be fixed in patch releases?

Not sure mate. I haven't heard back from them about it and I am starting to think it may be too late.

As for your other problem, it may be worth whacking the AC10 CD back in and doing a repair? Although reinstalling the PDF Converter should have fixed it - hopefully you won't have to do a full reinstall.

What OS are you on?

Cheers,
Link.

So who do we let know that this isn't really a good thing?

I've discovered the cause of my PDF woes (well, the lack of saving option).

The users in our office don't have administrator privileges to their computers (various reasons). For some reason, this is preventing the PDF option being available on the Save Format. I know because I logged on as the Administrator and got it no problem.

Any idea which privileges need to be changed where in order to fix this?
