Structural Grids "not" showing up in elevation/nor section?

basically, I've toggled all toggle-able (sp?) buttons on both the grid, the section marker, the elevation marker, the layer combo...and still can't get my structural grids to be displayed in neither elevation nor section views?

Rob:
Try clicking the "show non-perpendicular Grid Elements" button,
in the "Elevations Selection Settings".

EDIT:
That worked for me with the Section tool... but not with an Elevation.

EDIT: EDIT:
Yea... it does work ... if the Elevation marker lays over the grid in plan.
Make sense?

It's a bug (i think).

Thanks Marc,
you may be right about the "bug" thing.
it appears that if the imaginary elevation vertical plane is NOT touching any of the column grids in plan....then the grids will "NOT" appear in elevation.

Do the grids show w/ the "show non-perpendicular Grid Elements"
button unchecked? Just wondering.

if you have grid lines that are 'not' perpendicular to the and you don't have that radio button checked, the grid lines will NOT show.
that button must be checked to see them in elevation/section.

Rob, maybe the best solution would be to make sure that your Section Line exactly perpendicular to those Grid Elements. Seems like currently they are not.

We do have the same problem

We have exterior wall angle and we do have a grid to the exterior side. It doesn't appear on elevation.

Why do we have the option for non-perpendicular grid in the elevation setup

If i have a good memory it seems that before we were able to make them appear

Yes, Section, Elevation and Interior Elevation Settings Dialog's have the "Grid Tool" panel, which at its top has the "Show Grid Elements" checkbox. When it is checked the panel's "Show non-perpendicular Grid Elements" checkbox also becomes enabled and you can check it.

However, there is an additional condition: the Section/Elevation/Interior Elevation Line actually has to intersect the Grid Element. This is necessary because the Grid Element will be show in the Section/Elevation/Interior Elevation at the position it intersects the Section/Elevation/Interior Elevation line.

If they don't intersect (many time a case with Elevations) they will not be shown in the Elevation even though the checkbox is checked in the Settings Dialog.

In the attached image the Elevation line intersects only non-perpendicular Grid Elements 3, 4 and 5, but not 1 and 2. Thus 1 and 2 are not shown in the Elevation, while 3, 4 and 5 are shown, each at the point where it intersects the Elevation Line.

Super,

Yes it working, but why if we have perpendicular axe we don't have to be on the axe and everything is showing

Thanks a lot

Because when the Grids are perpendicular to the Section/Elevation Line, they will be at the same spot in the Section/Elevation no matter where the Section/Elevation Line is. So no need to actually intersect.

When they are non-perpendicular, the Section/Elevation Line must intersect the Grid Element to know where to show the Grid Element in the Section/Elevation. The program will show them at their intersection point, but for this they must actually have to intersect. This way you see their Intersection point on the Floor Plan and so you have an idea of where that non-perpendicular Grid Element will appear on the Section/Elevation.
