Trace & Reference in Layout

I'm looking to turn on my Trace and Reference in layout view and having the ability to plot it as well. Where do I go to turn on this setting?

Currently it disappears when I open the layout sheet.

I may be wrong but to my knowledge this is not possible.

Use the Print rather than the Plot command. The Print Dialog has a check box to "Print the Reference." When using the "Save As" command to PDF format, click the Document Options button to see the check box for "Display Reference".
