Turning off Zone Boundary?

Once I define the boundary for a zone, and that sq. ft. calculation appears on my room schedule, is there a way to hide all but the zone's tag identifier (the BED, 125...text)? I use a label (shown below) for RCP's, sections, etc. so I may have to do the same for floor plans and hide the main zone layer. Still, is turning off the boundary possible? 

(intent is to avoid accidental adjustments or selecting it when I intend to select an object etc.)

Hi @architect 

If the zones bother you while editing other elements, you could temporarily hide the layer (as you said) or lock it and carefully use the Tab key to select the correct element by clicking it repeatedly.

Also you could label the zone with an independent label in its own layer and turn the zone layer off, as you mentioned, but a tip to do it faster:

1. Choose the Zone Label 27 from Label Tool.

2. Select all zones (Ctrl+A) with the Zone Tool selected.

3. Document>  Annotation> Label Selected Elements.

4. Also, if you turn the zone's layer on don't forget to turn off Construction element options> Show Zone Stamps in the Model View Options combination of the view.

It's a wish of mine then, thanks for the alternative approaches. A Model View Option working plan view avoids updating multiple layer combinations, which is less of an issue with more established templates/standards. As always, thanks for the thorough reply.

As Ricardo suggested, label the zones.

The label can be in a different layer to the zone, so you can turn either on/off independently.

The zones can place the label automatically, just as they do for the zone stamp (turn the stamp off in Model View Options).

You can also have multiple labels so you can have different information or a label in different locations for different plan views.

I also turn the quick selection (magnet) off so I can't accidentally select a surface (spacebar to toggle it on if I do want a surface).

I find that makes it easier to select other elements.

And you can use a Graphic Override to turn the fill colour to transparent.

Although if you are using labels and zones in different layers, you don't really need the transparent option.
