edit my dims

how can i edit dimension chains (or single dimensions).... i want to be able to drag the point or witness line after i set the dim...

<i am currently reading the help menu... thought this might be faster>

You can't move the dimension point since it is associated to the element that is dimensioned. Witness line lengths can be adjusted in various ways. You will need to look these up. They are hard to describe.

With the dimension tool active and dimension line selected, click and drag on the dimension line and this dynamically changes the witness line length (might depend on which witness line method you have set, needs to be one of the two right hand options)

... and if you want to change the dimension points (the points that you have dimensioned to) right click on the dimension chain, Select and ativate tool, hold down the CTRL key, click on the additional dimensioning points.

Remove the existing dim points by selecting (checkmark) and deleteing them

Join two dimensioning chains by selecting one, and CTRL clicking on another ...

... and so on ...

Hey -- Just noticed this after one of the latest hotfixes:

When I do this, the witness line gap/length does indeed change, but the dimension line does not move. In order to move the dimension line, the Drag "command" needs to be invoked -- has this always been the case?

At least from AC9. I probably didn't realise it until then.

huh -- well I guess I'm so used to Ctrl+D out of habit, I hadn't noticed this until now -- not very logical behavior, tho.

Ever since I can remember. At least back to 6.5.

If your in the "arrow" tool.... you don't need to use the drag command. Select the dim. and drag it. With any other tool selected... the witness line will change.
