AC20 Displaced trace references

I have a couple of drawings both legacy & new in which the trace overlays are displaced from the true origin even when "Reset to default".

Obviously not a disaster as the reference can be dragged into place but it seems unusual behaviour. Anyone else noticed this?

I've noticed this with elevations/sections if I've mirrored / moved them after the first time they were placed, but that's been since it was introduced first in ArchiCAD13/14?? (been a while!), as far as I remember.

Sometimes it looks like it's off by like a pixel, but that's just the way to show the elements of original/trace, I think.

Hi Erwin, I don't mean they are just off; the reference drawings are significantly displaced. For instance if I'm looking at a building cross section then rt-clk in the navigator menu to select "show as trace reference" for the corresponding gable elevation then it will appear but completely clear of the section and displaced to the right. Trying to reset the trace to the default position makes no difference, it completely ignores the project origin. It's becoming quite annoying on my current project as I am trying to rework a lot of details and nothing seems to overlay with any consistency...

Yes, I've had that with sections/elevations that I've copied around my floorplan or mirrored, but not just in recent updates. I think it refers to whatever original origin it had before you dragged a copy, mirrored it, etc.

Hi All, trace references have their own origin, they do not reflect a relationship to the plan origin, unless we are talking about a trace reference of a plan. The elevations and sections by design have their own origin. Once you move them to the desired position, they do remain there!

Hi Katalin,

Thanks for the official position. I was hoping that the reset option would move the trace project origin to overlay on the current view project origin to provide a co-ordinating start point. That would make more sense to me. I am working on a building with several parallel cross sections where none of the sections presented themselves using the common origin point which was quite frustrating. It has also had implications for updating manually altered section details. Perhaps you could float the problem with the development team with a view to getting trace reset to work with the project origin in all views PLEASE?
