Archterra_Embeded Roads

Not applicable
I am using archterra to add embedded roads to a rather large site. However, I have found that each time I try to complete the function, the program either takes a long time (+/- a half hour) or just crashes. I am working on a new Dell with enough computing power, so I don't think that is the problem. My main concern is that the site is simply too large for the program to handle. Is architerra limited in this manner? And most important, is there a better method I could use to speed up the process?

Thanks for any help,

Try a test on a smaller site model. If that works you might want to break up the site into smaller pieces.

Yeah, that seems to work. If you have any tips on dividing up a site so that the seams aren't visable, that would be great to know. If not, thanks for the help so far.

I've mostly done it with the ArchiCAD mesh tool so the same methods may not apply.

Due to the limitations of the (non-ArchiTerra) mesh I usually split the terrain model along functional lines; lawns, parking lots, streets, etc. This is probably not best in ArchiTerra since the roads, etc. are cut into the mesh. On very large suburban or rural sites I usually divide the land along property lines. If the site is a single large property, then dividing it along contour lines can hide the seams.

Thanks Matthew. Things are looking positive.
