Just a bug heads up to the devs- not sure if this is the correct place to post.
I get a recurring prompt upon opening the ArchicadStarter as per the title and screen grabs below. Every time I select 'open project' or double click from the list BEFORE this prompt displays, the project will never open - it's a 100% occurrence. The cursor will just blue cycle until i force quit. If i cancel the prompt then double click open a project quickly it will open no problem; if i wait a few more seconds until just before the same prompt shows up again, it will freeze again as above. Perhaps it's a windows printer issue, but probably something GS should get onto as it disrupts the working day.
More recently a crash prompted the same message at the bugsplat window and it was unable to finish sending (or so it appeared) and i was unable to cancel out.
It 100% happens every time i start archicad so I'm happy for a dev to get in touch and work through diagnostics for a solution.
Side note:
I'm unable to see & edit my signature while creating a new post to see if all the necessary info is there; i understand that it's located elsewhere, but i would put to the forum builders that a better location is at the bottom of 'create new topic' where it would load your signature and enable editing, and auto store it for next time. It can be kept up to date more easily that way.

Hi @stoneunturned,
Sorry to hear you're experiencing an issue.
Please install the latest printer driver, hopefully, that will eliminate the problem. Alternatively, changing the default printer in the system settings may help also.
Kind regards,

Thanks @Oleksandra Vakariuk,
I'm glad GS are aware.
Another bit of interesting behaviour to make you aware of while the problem is diagnosed:
It occurs when archicad closes too.
I received the message two times the instant a project was closed.
Notice there is no line under the AC startbar icon in the snip below, indicating it is closed, and yet the message popped up _just_ before the AC window closed.
This message only appears when AC is opened or closed.
No other applications trigger it, indicating an issue with AC's interaction with the printers list in win11, and possibly as simple as wanting to establish the connection to an offline default printer.
Last week 6 archicad starters froze while trying to open my project in a row, so this should be solved.

Although this is a printer setup issue, we received some reports about it in the past few months. I asked the developers to check if it's a problem on our side, I'll let you know once I have more news on this.

Thanks Oleksandra,
I just did a general google and it turns out its an issue that's been occurring across a myriad of applications.
We were half way there with a solution. From the link below:
"Yep, exactly my experience - solved it by:
"Let Windows manage my default printer" OFF
"Default printer" MICROSOFT PRINT TO PDF"
My printer drivers were all up to date, but i had set my default printer to Adobe PDF to try and eliminate the need for a connection. When that failed to solve it, i didnt think to try Microsoft Print to PDF.
First open seems to be quicker, and without the popup message.

Got the same issue here when switching to a new PC. I had Adobe CC installed on this new computer and the issue started to happen since then. Probably due to Adobe PDF Printer, anyhow I had the default printer to be Microsoft one. Thanks for the finding, let's see how it goes!

Hi all,
Sorry for the delay.
Our developers investigated the problem and they informed me that such an issue can be caused by a change in the default printer settings (e.g. after a Windows update or installation of another app as mentioned by Minh). We store this default data to set the user-defined settings, for example, page size.
Apart from other solutions mentioned here, discarding all printer settings from Archicad to ensure that it's not wrongly persistent on these printing preferences should resolve the issue. This can be done by changing the value of the following registry from 0 to 4: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\GRAPHISOFT\Archicad\<Archicad version>\PrintPlot\Discard Print Settings.
Kind regards,
Oleksandra

Thanks for your help here.
This does improve the situation, but not completely. When i double click a project to open from the Starter, it will open without blue circling endlessly, so that is positive.
Unfortunately the prompt does still display in the starter even with the registry item set to 4, though as mentioned the project does open without issue. And it still prevents a bug report from sending after archicad crashes, which recently has been quite often whilst working in 3D.
It would be nice to get those bug reports going through so they can be resolved in future updates.

Unfortunately that will only happen if you take the time to send of the bug report, take note of the number and follow up with your local support asking why did it crash.
Hopefully they will either give you a solution or say they are passing it on to GS HQ for them to investigate/solve.
Barry.

Oh i didnt realise all those bug reports were going nowhere. Surely GS let an 'AI' analyse them all for similarities to zero in on bugs?

Same occurring on my end. Doing regular editing, stretching wall reference lines, tweaking topo levels and had about 5 crashes in one day. Whenever
the bug report dialog opens, the printer connection dialogue pops up with multiple dialogues opening up without my control. (See screen shot below). I am not sure the bug report was sent through or not. Because the only way to get pass these multiple prompts is to cancel them all independently. (Archicad 27: Build 5003)
