Does anyone know anything about this error, I have it too since today and all my Archicad's don't start up ... with the same error: Warning: cannot create temporary documents.

Archicad Error

Warning: Cannot create temporary documents.

This error first occurred when I was attempting to open a old Archicad file, probably ac v7/ac v8.
I searched for a way to open it. The best way I could find was to download "ArchiCAD 10 INTwithLib.zip" from http://www.graphisoft.com/downloads/fileconverter.html
this I unzipped, pasted into C:\Program Files\GRAPHISOFT
then I double clicked the C:\Program Files\GRAPHISOFT\ ArchiCAD 10 INTwithLib\archicad.exe
which opens Archicad 10, and tried to open that old file.
Meanwhile I was busy with another job (Archicad 16 teamwork project) - so one instance of ac16 was running and of cause the ac10 "file converter" one.

Now..., ac 10 did not open the old pln file so I figured it is too old / corrupt,
I then abandoned my attempt to open the old file and continued working.
I needed to open a hotlink which was placed in my current open ac16 project and attempted to open another instance of ac16 - which gave me the error
Thinking this is some small glitch I tried to open a ac17 project, nothing, same error, as well as ac 15, ac 14...
restarting my pc (win 7, 64 bit , 12 GB ram, intel r core tm i7 cpu 940 @ 2.93ghz , nvidia geforce gtx 295, 500gb hd - 377 GB free) ....all stayed the same.

The process of eliminating the error:

1)delete ArchiCAD 10 INTwithLib from the program files - nothing
2)uninstall ac 16, reinstall ac16 - nothing
3) ininstall all archicads (ac 14, ac14 32bit, ac 15, ac 16 ac 17) + deteting all "left behind" files in the program files manually - reinstall ac 16 ... nothing
4) uninstall ac16, uninstall java 7- install java 6, install ac16 - nothing

just before starting a format of my c drive I :

5) uninstalled ac 16 , uninstalled anything connected to graghisoft (bim, bimx, vbe mep, all addons server/manager) uninstall java 6, install latest java 7.40, delete all local temp data in:
C:\Windows\Temp and in
C:\Users\your name\AppData\Local\Temp
going to regedit - deleting all graphisoft keys under the software folders. (after I made a backup)
---restart
---install ac 17, and whhhhoooolaaa, it worked.

I will leave it to your discretion to chose where the problem was, or where you want to start fixing this error. Maybe someday someone can tell me what exactly was/is "corrupt"/brocken when this error occurs.

All the best for you if you have this error.

Kind regards

Having the same problem.
Tried Claudias Fix but problem remains.
Latest AC17 5005 installed.

Checked permissions in local folder but they seem to be correct.

Graphisoft please help.

Did anyone find a solution to this problem? I can't even uninstall Archicad. It says that Java isn't installed, but it is. I'm freaking out.

Yes!

It's a brute one but I deleted the user profile and started a new.
Now it works fine. Of the 40 users at the office I've only encountered this problem with one of them.
All the computers has the same set-up so it a mystery what caused it.

Good luck!

There seems to be a serious problem with the Java installations. And yes, I fixed it too by deleting the user profiles although it took me a while to do it.

New problem appears when I'm trying to install the goodies. 😕

I am getting the "Cannot Create Temporary Documents" error message
at launch. I get it with AC14 thru AC18. Anyone have any specific insight
as to what needs to be deleted and where it is located.

Thanks
