Where settings are stored

Hello,
Can anyone tell me where AC 8.1 " Favorites" and "Customized Info box" settings are stored on the Mac and the names of these files ?
I would like to transfer these settings from one machine to another.
Thank you,
Peter Devlin

Favorites can be stored in any folder. I suggest that if you are a sole practitoner you create a special folder outside of the ArchiCAD folder in which to store them. For larger firms they can be stored on a server so that everyone in the firm can access them.

On a Windows machine the Work Environment is stored in Documents and Settings :

C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Graphisoft\ArchiCAD 9.0.0 USA R1\WorkEnvironment

On the Mac (which I am not in front of right now) it's in the User/Libraries/Graphisoft... somewhere there. If you do a search for Work Environment you will find it.

On the Mac it's

Users\USER\Library\Preferences\Graphisoft\AC 9.0.0 USA v1\WorkEnvironment

woodster,
Thank you for your reply.
I was referring to AC 8.1.
There is no work environment folder in AC 8.1 prefs.
There are three .xml files in addition to the prefs files
that we all are familiar with. Could the settings for
Favorites and Customized Info boxes be in one of these,
and which one ?
Thank you,

Peter,

Favorites work the same in 8 as 9. There is no saveable Work Environment in 8.

woodster,
I am aware that "There is no saveable Work Environment in 8.".

Is it reasonable to assert the following ?
In AC 8.1, there must be preference files that store Favorites and Customized Info box settings or
every time one opens a project one would have to re-set these settings which is, in fact, not necessary.

If the above assertion is reasonable then,
I was hoping someone could tell me where and in which file(s)
this information is stored.

Thank you,

In 8.1 each Favorites pallet you save is a separate file put wherever you save it to just exactly as it is in 9. You can even use Favorites created in 8.0 in 9.0 with some caveats.

I know that the customized Info Box settings are retained if you save a template. Other than that, I would email GS Technical Support and ask them where exactly that information is stored. I do know that it is NOT a separate file.

Regards.

Woody,
Thank you very much for your information.
You say:

"I know that the customized Info Box settings are retained if you save a template. Other than that, I would email GS Technical Support and ask them where exactly that information is stored. I do know that it is NOT a separate file. "

Very interesting.
I had concluded that the Info box settings were not stored in the
template because I had given my boss my latest template.tpl
and everything was as it is on my machine except the Info Box
settings. I will have to check this again. I might be wrong.

Thank again Woody,

Just went over this again and the Info Box settings are stored in:

C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Graphisoft\ArchiCAD 8.1.0 USA R2\ToolBoxUIPreferences.xml

or, on the Mac

HD\Users\USER\Library\Preferences\Graphisoft\AC 8.1.0\ToolBoxUIPreferences.xml

woodster,
Thank you for researching further.
I suspected these settings were stored in the *.xml files
but was not sure. Thanks for the confirmation.
I can replace just the ToolBoxUIPreferences.xml
file and keep the others as is.
