newly installed AC 12 crashes shortly after opening

Hi,

I've just installed AC12 and it keeps to crash.
I have a suspicion that it is something to do with the 3D window.
What do you think, is it some kind of incompatibility?
No idea where I shall start to look for the solution.

My computer:
Dell Optiplex GX280
Intel Pentium4 3GHz
Intel 82915G/GV/910GL
Windows XP

RAM?

Your video card is not really suitable for Archicad at all ... so that would explain the 3D crashes.

Cheers!
1.5GB RAM. Not much I guess.
Additional info that there is an AC11 also installed on that computer. Can it cause problems?
Do you have any advise where I can learn something about the compatibility of the video card, etc.?

Look near the bottom of this page for "Video Card Database":

ArchiCAD Talk :: Index

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

David, thanks for the compatibility page link.
Eeeeer... Friday was my last day in the office where I worked on this computer.
But you're absolutely right, I will do my profile properly.

Make sure your DirectX is updated and all the drivers are updated.
I have ten GX 280's.
Running with half a gig of RAM.
And the CPU is 2.8.

One did the same thing and I updated DirectX and a driver from Intel.

Goto the RUN Command prompt.
Type in DXDIAG you should be running DirectX 9.0.

There is a way to run DirectX 10 on XP, but I am not sure if actually works?

Hope this helps...

By the way I am getting ready for a video card, what video card do you think would be a good one?
I am running AutoCAD 2009, Google SketchUP 7 and PTC Wildfire 4.0.

Thanks...
