Archicad 13 - Objects

Anonymous

Hello

I am having troubles with the object tool in Archicad 13, and I cannot find the answer in help.

I am building a library by making collections of lines and hotspots, and saving a selection as a library object .gsm, in the embedded library.
I have then placed these .gsms into plans and interior elevations (2D, drawn up under "Details").

Now, for example, I realised that I needed another two hotspots in an object, so I edited my original set of lines/hotspots, and resaved the selection with the same name, replacing the old file.

Now when I go back to my detail, it doesn't update. The new hotspots are not there. Even if I close/open the file, try deleting the object/object file, and regenerating, and then replace in the detail file, the new hotspots still don't come up. If I open the .gsm file 2D full view, they are there. But not in the layout in which I have placed the object.

I would have expected that there would be a way to update all objects, so that for example if I decided to change a width of a part of a door, add hotspots etc., then I can just do so once in the object file, and then click update and all the instances in the main file receive the changes. How does one do this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't know if this is the solution, but you can try opening the Library Manager and reload the libraries. When making changes to an object, you should open the object and edit it. In later versions of ArchiCAD, the application assigns a unique ID to each part, and uses this ID (rather than the name) for identification. When you create a new part (even with the same name), I believe this new part has a different ID from the old part. See this article from ArchiCADWiki: GUID

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

If you save an object into a "normal" library in a folder outside your project and reopen it, it will probably saved in the embedded library. You should get a message for double objects by loading your libraries. If it is so, you have to decide, where to store the objects.
