Based on old intelligence, does that trick only work in PC environment.

You'll have better results by undocking your plan AND 2D script window, then holding-click for a second or two onto your gradient fill in your plan window and dragging it into the 2D script window.
By the way the gradient fill works in GDL but I couldn't find how to set the directions or sizes of the gradients... but didn't search a lot
