How can I create this type of cladding?

Hi,

I'm looking at a type of cladding to add to my facade that looks like some sort of metal ( zinc or steel )... I've used cadimage wall accessories but I can't get the small angle between cladding that is the main point.

To make things easier, I have attached a cadimage attempt and the original that I want to achieve. I guess it is possible with the slab tool but I'm not sure that this is the best way.

Thank You

And here's what cadimage produced.

Hi NStocks,

Unless you want an extreme detailed model I wouldn't go that way...
In your situation, I'd create a new material with simple texture and fill.
The 3d result would be reasonable and the polygon count would be much more fair.

Hi,

Well the main points that I wanted were the small angles on the facade and the slightly reflective surface... I've never created a material but I guess I should try.

What do I use exactly to model this with... " Wall " ? If so do you think it would be possible to create the small angle by alternating tiny wall segments ? ( I realise this will probably take a long time )

Thank You

Perhaps I'm missing something...
But you could use a wall with complex profile like this...
and create a new material (with your texture and fill) and make it coincident with the cladding edges using the change texture origin command.

Hi,

yes you can create using a complex profile but it will only generate the horizontal line but what about the vertical lines?
In the end what is your Objective?

you could always create a morph in elevation and subtract it from the wall

I think one of the above responses said "why would you do that?"
that's not the way you'd want to do that to make the software behave efficiently.
Why not just apply a material "surface" the exterior fascade that only "mimics as a picture" the design intent?
I wouldn't try to model those joints vertical and horizontal. You are just asking for model crashing and bogging down time.
it's not worth that level of detail on the facades.....really.
just use a surface material and be done with it.
