How can I import object models in the *.glb file format into Archicad?

A friend sent me some AI-generated 3D furniture models in the *.glb format. How can I use them in Archicad? Thank you!

Operating system used: Windows 6010

If you are a little bit familiar with GDL, it is very easy to add a simple and detailed toggle parameter where you could substitute the detailed model with something less detailed and swap in the detailed model for artist impressions only.

There is no direct import of .glb into archicad.

Convert it into .3ds file with something like https://fabconvert.com/convert/glb (add-on goodies 3dstudio in: https://www.graphisoft.com/us/downloads/goodies)

You could check if the FBX files was properly exported from Blender. There are a lot of free online FBX Viewers on the net. You could try viewing the FBX file in them:

  • If they have textures, it means that FBX export from Blender was fine, and the problem is indeed with Archicad's FBX import.
  • However, if they do not have textures even in the online FBX viewer, it probably means that FBX export from Blender was incorrect.
