New Object 3DMD Polyline Fence

Mario Sacco

Hi
I'm working on a new object I will share with you on Archicad BimComponents. I share here it in the first beta version, so we can try to find some bags or improvements.

The object fence is really only a simple version of a main object most complex. The logic in which the main object works is to generate a 3d editable poly line, base to generate more complex or simple tubes along it, in which I can distribute more simple or complex posts.

I'll will use the main complex object to create single simple objects.

Give me any suggestion and request of any object based on this logic. I will be happy to try to create your personal request.

The last version is here:

Example of 3DMD Polyline Fence.
This is a new improvement not still attached to this trend.

How do you add nodes to your 2d/3d polyline? in a dynamic way or you have a parameter to fix at the beginning the number of nodes ?

Can you share it for AC16, please?

Here you can find something.

However I'have created my own code without copy any other code mode by other. By contract I can't share my code.

Hey, great work! I can't believe it's been almost a year since that post. I'm glad you found the code useful. Kind of what I originally had in mind.

Small issue though... the code is locked.

Best regards.

Looks like a neat object.
I was thinking you could probably also create a railing object which could also be a polylinear object.

Hello Mariosmic!

Wonderful pictures of your work!

You must be a much better programmer than i am..

But - som critics - some suggestions:

To see at your pictures - there seems to be just the parts which are seen in architectural models later. The technical part - needed to construct such things in reality - seems to be not implemented.

example 1: every wall in the nature needs a foundation - maybe not so much in Rome, but here by me in Salzburg in the Alps - the foundation needs to be deep enough that its situated under the possible freeze-depth.
suggestion: ad an ajustable/switchable strip-foundation - and if it should follow different Z-Axes - dont follow the angled surface direct - you have step it.

example 2:
There are very different fences manufactured out in reality.
You will never get all the different possibilities get working. You obviously tried to create often used possibilities at your position in Rome.

I think it would be better to work out some simple archetypic themes
to begin with simple wall, next step could be vertical columns with palings between, next some wooden fences and so on..
But - all depended on real fences from real producers

Do You know the objects from archilib.od.pagesperso-orange.fr/

here the : Garde-corps

A fence or a railing with this functionality compared with Your 3D - abilities with different Z-hights - that it would be the goal.

What i am working now in this direction is to make something simpler than Your solution - moved parallel to the original polygon. Railings are positioned parallel to the slab - moved out or in. (here normally moved out for better mounting and less sealing-problems) But my solution will take some time because i am not so good at mathematics and have to do mostly at trial and error..

Thank you laszlo. It's a pleasure receive your comments.
I'm working on railing too. There are many manufactured rails combinations but I'll try to work on the main ones.
Now I'm solving many bags on arcs options!!!

You understood exactly what I'm working on.
There are too many bags to solve, now.
Thank you for your advice.
I'll add fondations and other fence options.
I don't want to create a single object with to many options.
Better more objects with less options.

hello Mariosmic!

Here is my progress so far:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtrt46mlt20

1 made a 2D-Section situated in the groundfloor with the polygone to set some thicknesses and distances easily. This will be later to turn off.

Its in german but you will get the idea for sure.

If You want to mess around with it:

Fantastic work!
We are working with the same aim!

By contract with my client I can't share the whole code. I can share the code of the editing polyline with arc.

I used the same method to edit the section you used. I think I'll use it only for set objects I'm working on gdl . I prefer for now leave less editing options. In complex object with arcs it becomes very slow on less performant computers.

I must still add the gap at end and start in each line as you made. With arcs and elevations it becomes very difficult.
