I'll keep an eye for future videos about shell capabilities, but my guess is that if AC had some other major improvements, they would be shown right away... so with that said, while it looks great to have new modeling tools, as far as I've seen, they are still DUMB modeling tools. What good does it do to model the USAFA Cadet Chapel in that way if I later realize I need to change something in the first pyramidal shell? Erase every copy->edit->multiply->edit->multiply->edit->multiply->multiply->rotate all over again each time a change is needed?
Don't get me wrong... the new tools and options are great, the upgrade is far better than AC13+AC14 combined; but since AC has always kept an eye on Auto*** like forever for tools and improvements, why haven't simple relationships been made between elements **cof cof walls to next level minus floor thickness cof cof**? I mean, auto*** implemented simple paramateric relationships between elements since... what? v2010?
I would have expected at least some kind of instancing, or true bi-directional dimension associativity. The shell modeling tool takes us a step closer to modeling freedom, and I know we will all see great uses of that, but can I convert that shell into a curtain panel system? What ir the change freedom of the completed object? These are the questions to be asked at the same time we jump while cheering new tools.
And don't get me started on GDL.....
Anyway, I'm happy the way things are going, even if it means waiting another year to see the modeling toolset completed (because we all know improvements are made over two versions).
Best regards.
