Ben, i have read those pages. I dont see any new calculating tool. Or an enchanment of the current. Perhaps i miss smthg.

My biggest concern coming out of ArchiCAD 9 was the Profiler function, which up to that version had really been a bolted on plugin as opposed to an integrated function of the program. The preview videos obviously seem to indicate that they have moved passed that type of solution and integrated a profile function ( and manager) to the Wall, Column and Beam tools ( as far as I could tell from the videos and pdfs). This is indubitibly great and considerably expands our modelling capacity with ArchiCAD.
1)My question regarding this, which wasn't clear frm the videos, is, how does this new profile function handle curves in plan? .
How does ArchiCAD 10 handle this? I was always of the impression that this kind of thing cannot be achieved with ArchiCAD's graphics engine (outside of plugins like ArchiForma and Maxonform, which are useless when it comes to parametrics and windows and openings) without the integration of some kind of a NURBS engine. I don't get the impression that this profile tool does anything that allows this..You would still need ArchiForma or MaxonForm, but you will need updated Archicad 10 versions (see below).
2) The other question was does this profile function also work with the roof tool, or do we have to rotate profiled walls outside ArchiCAD to get sloped profiles like with special stairway handrails, mouldings, cornice treatments etc? (rotated outside ArchiCAD meaning via Maxonform or something, which leads to......)The Profiles only work with walls, beams, and columns, not slabs or roofs. The walls can slant in profile, but cannot slant end-to-end. The beams can, though, and they can be sloped and/or rotated.
3)I don't suppose that ArchiCAD 10 will be able to work with current ArchiCAD 9 plugins ( like ArchiForma, or Maxonform), in the event that the answer to the above 2 questions is no, or negative? All add-ons/plug-ins (true add-ons, not objects) have to be compiled for the new version. Each vendor will have their own policies about whether they charge for the new versions or not.

Frank Gery architecture with AC is still impossible.
He must do still with his modell.
