Beams Won't Paste/Merge/Import ARGH!!!

I am trying to get profiled beams (metal framed door headers FWIW) to transfer from one file to another. I have tried copy/paste, merge MOD and merge PLN. The walls and columns come in just fine but no beams no way!

I opened the MOD and the beams were there so it is a problem getting them in not out.

Any ideas?

Can you transfer the profile attribute separately?

The attributes are present and identical in both files. I can't get ANY beams to convey by ANY means. GGRRRR!!

Update: I have drawn a 10' x 10' simple beam in each file and successfully copy/pasted. Still no luck with FXXXXXXING profiled beams.

UPDATE-2: The beams are now showing up in 3D but I can't get them to show in plan. All settings seem to match. Bluuurrggh....

Just in case anyone is interested...

I finally got it sorted. For some reason ArchiCAD insists on setting the pasted/imported beams to "show on relevant stories only" thus CHANGING the settings from the source file. The quirk here is that the Revit source file that I HAVE to coordinate with has the typical mish mash of levels that the Revitiot operators don't realize should not ALL be stories. So even though the beams were ON level one they were not showing up there. The 3D problem was the story filter.
