Cameras in 3D Window

The methodology of design for a particular building requires that I navigate within the 3D window, and make subjective decisions from that view. The building has become very complex and designing in plan and section is quite futile.

Does anyone else design in this way? If so, you may as I am doing, set up various camera positions to save time 'navigating' the spaces created.

However, is it possible to move the views of individual cameras via the walk tool etc. and keep those particular settings/views. At the moment they keep reverting back to the settings manually typed in when setting the cameras up.

Thanks if anyone can help.

This is very non-intuitive. In the camera dialogue box there is a small (very small) triangle at the top right. (I belive this is correct, I'm not at the office.) Clicking on this will allow you to either modify or place a new camera.
I generally work in the 3-D window in a isometric view and use the marquee to limit the redraw time.

Ah! A fellow virtual walker!

Yep. If you selected a camera, and opened the 3D window (context menu or right click), in the 3D navigation palette's upper right corner is the small triangle as Millard correctly observed. There, you have the option to put a new camera into the current path, or modify the selected one. If you opened the 3D window without selecting a camera first, it will only offer to place a new camera. I usually adjust the camera views by this method; how interactive can you get ?!?!

Tip: if the design is complex, create paths by stories, and/or interior/exterior, with/without furniture ... Don't forget that you CAN save sets of parallel views, and if the marquee is on, it will also be remembered! With the proper layer combos, it is very easy to create view sets for just navigation or batch rendering/publishing, or for inserting into PlotMaker. If you do specify Rendering window as your output, the views placed into PlotMaker will have no extensions - unlike the placed images. Watch out how you name the views if you want to use titles.

Subtip: create all the 3D views as 3D views first, using OpenGL engine and shading. Then clone the folder, and set the rendering/analytic/whatever 3D view, and if needed, clone again.

Oh, definitely! Epsecially if your OpenGL hardware is strong enough.

I am regularly walking clients around and doing real time changes ... Have to cushion the desk, broken jaws are expensive.
