Changing textures. Is there a quick way?

Imagine i have a big building and many windows and the client decides that he does not want aluminium profile but wood.

Is there a quick way to change e.g all instances of aluminum to wood for a given selection of windows (not nesseceraly the same size and type....)?

If not then i have something more to wish for

The best way is for me to start any project creating and using few "generic materials" for example wall material, windows material, slab material etc. If any change occurs then modify this material and your project will immediately be changed, you won't have to change any object or element. If a new material is needed, for example a different window material, just duplicate the former one and apply it where changes are needed. This approach is good for conception in the sense that you allways start with few material, and end only with the ones you need. If ever a material from another projetct is wanted, use the attributes manager

I have set up a few generic materials labelled as :

Package 1 Brick
Package 1 Brick Trims
Package 1 Brick Soldier
Package 1 Siding
Package 1 Paint Trims
Package 1 Paint Accent
Package 1 Interior Paint
Package 1 Interior Trims

Package 2 Brick
Package 2 Brick Trims
...etc....

As I am constructing the model I can select the colour package suggested by the builder but have the option of changing any component on the fly if the builder changes his or her mind.

The trick to changing the colour is to simply change the texture or colour assigned to the material (Options:Material) ie change Aluminum "texture" to wood "texture"; and then rename "Aluminum" to "Wood". The material number assignments stay with the object.

Find and select, change the parameter. Provided, that the same parameter exists in all the windows selected, as they might be of different type.
