Circular subtraction from fill

Yet another begginer question (possibly). How do you do a circular subtraction from a fill? Say if you had a round window in a wall or a circle in a floor tile pattern.

simply right click the fill,activate the fill tool, draw your subtraction area with pet pallet ,done

Or....Select the fill, space click inside the circle.
