Complex profiles

Have tried this feature and like it with two exceptions. Perhaps I'm not seeing the whole picture with this tool.

1. Can't make curved elements. The curved wall tool is greyed out if the profile is enabled as a wall, and beams, well I can't curve them in any case.
2. You can make a complicated profile, that's true. But I don't see how you can make two different pieces have two different materials. For instance a brick sill with a piece of white trim on top of it.

It's almost as good as the cadimage 3D profiler, but not quite. I would use the Cadimage profiler, but it takes too much time and money to keep three workstations updated and able to read each other's libraries. It would be nice to use the AC 10 so one would not have those issues.

Maybe the hotfix will take care of this????

Curved profiles.... I doubt you will see that in Archicad 10.

For materials, each fill you draw can have its own material, set in the Profile Manager. where it says "Side Materials". That applies to any fills you have selected. Think of it as another Info Box.

Side Benefit: Profiles can be used with the Column and Beam tools, both of which slope pertty nicely in elevation views now. I've dropped my CADimage profiler usage to only curved elements now.

Tom's right. Curves won't happen in 10.

The materials can also be set individually for each edge of each fill (along with the section pen).

While you can't do curves. One can make the profile a beam and then use the magic wand which will make segmented beams that can follow a path.
Doesn't work for walls, and adjust the magic wand settings to get the segement length you want.

I guess that will have to do for now. Thanks for the heads up on the segmented beam.
