Doors

I have a problem with doors: how do I set the insertion point 10 cm from the door (normally on the corner of a perpendicular wall) so that I don't have to draw a reference line every time? Is there a way? I am using a generic opening in this case.

Thanks for your help,
PP

A quick search (the search link is at the top of the main page) came up with this.

This should give you a few ideas.

Thanks, but I am actually trying to set the insertion point directly in the element so that I don't have to go through that process every time. What I am trying to do is to have doors inserted in "one click only" once I set the preferred insertion point. Not sure it is possible though...

OK that depends on your door object then.
If it has an option built into it for a side offset you can use that but if it doesn't then you will need to edit the GDL script to allow for it.
I'm not familiar with the default Archicad doors so can't say if they have this option or not.

Here is one method not mentioned in that other thread:

Let us say you want to set it 100 mm from a joining Wall.

Set the Special Snap Point to "Distance" and set 100 mm for the distance in the Set Special Snap Values Dialog.
Also make sure to have the Between Intersection Points option active.
Then just move your cursor of the Wall edge and special snap points will be displayed at each 100 mm distance. Just click and place the Door/Window.

Or if some at 50 mm and some are 100 mm from the joining Wal, then ste the Distance to 50 mm. Then, depending on the case you click click the first or the second special snap point to place the Door/Window at the desired position.
